Sculpting With Cement

This book was first published in 1982 and although I have found it to be unavailable through the normal channels I have heard it is available directly from the author. I do not have his address or contact information at this time. I suspect your local library could find it. I found the copy for this review through the inter-library loan program. This book covers all aspects of artistic sculpture in the ferrocement medium. From the chapter "How to Get Started" which covers building a small sculpture about 6 inches high to much larger sculptures of 6 feet and beyond. There are also chapters on casting a portrait bust, mounting stained glass in ferrocement panels and direct carving of the medium. Although this book deals with ferrocement as an artistic medium, the photos and discussion of armature building throughout the book and the last chapter which covers topics such as Stress and Strain, Thermal Stresses, Elasticity, Ductility, Vibration and Fatigue, Steam Curing and Creep, Polymer Impregnated Cement, and Building in Sections should be useful to anyone building with ferrocement.
Overall I found this to be a useful and informative book and I will be looking for a copy to add to my reference library.
