Hello Listers,
I have finally located what I think will be the site
for our new FC homes, but I wish to establish the
quality of the soil before finalizing the purchase.
I'm not so interested in the NPK(fertility) as I am in
any toxic or hazardous substances that remain in the
soil, a former cotton field. I do know cotton was once
the most extensively sprayed crop of all but the last
ten years or so poisoned pheronmone traps on a field's
perimeter have all but eliminated the pests that
plagued cotton.
I'm more concerned with things like dioxin, toluene,
asbestos, etc--any of which could've been dumped on
this remote field at some point without anyone
knowing.
Does anyone know of a lab that does a broad spectrum
test for contaminants? Or is there some type of kit
out there? The lab here at UGA requires you specify
the contaminant and this seems not useful in my case.
Regards,
Jeff MacKenzie
