[Ferro List] Swimming pool/Expansive soil

    40'x20' is not too huge for ferro but the straight walls make me a 
little nervous. Ferro lends itself to curves and benefits from wavy shape. 
If you are going to go 40' with a straight wall you might consider adding a 
bond beam of some sort at the top. DO NOT attach the sidewalk to the walls. 
I agree with Chris that the sidewalk should cover the wall and cantilever a 
couple of inches over the pool, but if it's attached with steel and the 
ground settles, the sidewalk will act like a big hinge and crack the pool 
wall. This advice comes from a friend who built many pools in all kinds of 
conditions. He learned the hard way. Peter
