A thought just reoccurred today that building an FC sphere is not going to
be easy to relevel when the ground moves, especially if half or more is
buried.
I am considering several threaded sockets in the shell that can have large
diameter rods screwed into them from inside against pads on the outside to
relevel the sphere when it becomes necessary. Basically removable screw
jacks.
I figure multiple layers of lath to build up the shell in these areas and
blend them into the rest of the shell. My gut feeling is about a Quarter
way up from the bottom or at 45 degrees and the more the better.
This is going to be double thin shell FC separated by about 12" of PC
(Papercrete). I'm not sure on the shell thickness but probably less than 1"
for the most part with as much lathe as I can squeeze into them. Any
suggestions on how thick and wide I should build up the shell for the jacks,
or any other suggestions or thoughts.
