Concerning the recnt discussion about the Monk patent, Dr. Nedwell from
the U.K. asked me to forward the following to the list:

Please would you put the following onto the list.

" In the early 1990's I did some work with Monks competition in the UK -
John Kennedy (who no longer exist) carrying out tests to ensure their
products complied with the WRC (Water Research Centre) Information and
Guidance note on ferrocement for use in the sewer repair industry. Details

Basically it set up type and quality control tests for ferrocement (other
IGN's covered other materials such as cured in place pipe).

As part of the work Kennedys were challenged with infringing the Monk
patent but I was able to show from prior art that there was nothing new in
their patent and the challenge failed.

Since then I have worked with Monk on a number of design projects to
promote the versatility of ferrocement."
