For many years I have bought my steel from a local concrete
construction supplier. They were a little pricey but I appreciated their
service and I always support local when practical. 2 years ago they sold
out to White Cap (I believe they are part of Home Depot) and everything
went down the toilet. They have now sold out to the Carlyle Group, a
Saudi/Bush family juggernaut
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article3995.htm that recently
bought our local telecommunications company and now even our little
concrete materials supplier. Most prices there have now doubled. They
are selling a sheet of riblath for $14.45!!!!! I'm now bringing the same
rib lath in from So. Cal. for $4.30 each (plus $1.14 for shipping to
Hawaii). The 3.4 diamond lath is $3.42. I just brought in 1000 sheets
and saved almost $10,000 from what I would have paid the cartel. You may
need to buy 500 sheets at a time but the savings are worth it. Call Tree

I am also attempting to purchase some expanded metal lath. 1000-2000 units.
I got an account with Tree Island only to be rejected during the final
ordering process because the outside rep felt I was a threat to his dealer
base?? I manufacture concrete sculpture as well as other elements but I
could not dialog past the fact that I do contracting as well.

Has anyone ordered through Cemco or Alida?

I have also been looking for a better source for acrylic and
superplasticizier.

z
