I went and Googled your island, and looked at real estate and did see some examples of what I think you meant. I don't entirely understand why the concrete fifteen foot up in the air, why not planks or plywood? Ferrocement would not marry up with the rest of what your doing without a lot of experimenting. I wouldn't put load bearing walls on unsupported fc, but then I wouldn't do that on the unsupported or intermediate areas of a concrete slab either. I could see stretching steel cables, or threaded rods through the 2 X 12 rim joist/girders, and laminating a fc floor onto those ties, and using this as both subfloor and finish floor for ordinary live and dead floor loads. - chris
