Hi Ron & Steve,
An Indian engineer by the name of Hemant Vaidya has done a lot on this subject. His book FERROCEMENT HOUSING PRELUDE goes into some detail on this. Basic pilasters of ferrocement that hold entrances and corners of mud brick. He also goes into strips of fc that brace walls diagonally or act as bond beams between floors, etc. You can order his book, but you have to write to him, and his wife will fill the order , etc. I actually treasure this book more than almost all others, just for it's soul-fullness in trying to protect the not so monetarily inclined. While his techniques wouldn't prevent destruction, they at least allow a building to hang together until people can get out - chris
