Ron,
One of Dr. Naaman's ideas is to make a weak - or not so great quality fc mold first for such instances. This takes some imagination of what you have around to shore things up to the point that you can lay up against the sides without them caving in or moving. This may mean a concrete patch of a very soft spot, and different hardware cloth, gunny sacks, etc, pinned into the sides with big landscape staples (U shaped bent wires). Chicken wire used in the laminated process would probably be bundled in multiple layers at a time.
Even though fc work is technically simple ( like cooking a meal) the propensity of newbies to screw things up is huge, so make sure small projects are completed first, so that a learning curve has been achieved before expending valuable time and resources on a more expensive failure. Lots of things in life can be 80% correct and have good results, while other things don't have this leeway - fc and cooked eggs not so much. Good luck, chris
