[Ferro List] List Problems

Hello everyone.
I think we have the list problems resolved. The list has grown a lot
over the past couple of years and you may or may not remember us having
issues before related to the volume of mail that is produced by the
list. At that time we set the default to digest mode. This helped a
lot with the issues but we have continued to have problems with some
people not getting mail from time to time.
Consequently I have put everyone on digest mode. This will reduce the
volume of mail and control it when the list gets really active. Digests
are sent out whenever a size threshold is met or once a day whichever is
more frequent. So if the list is really active you may receive more
than one digest in the day. This allows for a more active discussion
while still limiting the volume of mail somewhat. Hopefully this will
alleviate any problems with receiving mail.
At any time if you wish to see what someone has had to say about
something you can always check the current archives. Individual messages
post there immediately as they are received by the list. So if you are
in a big hurry to see what has been said just visit this link:
http://ferrocement.net/pipermail/list_ferrocement.net/ then choose the
appropriate quarter's Date link. The most recent messages will be at
the bottom of the list. (You can also get there by going to
ferrocement.net and clicking on the discussion list tab then on the
first link on the page 'List Archives'
As always if you are experiencing difficulties feel free to contact me,
but be aware I'm not physic so you will need to give me details of your
problem. If you have gotten an error I need to know what it said. If
you haven't gotten mail I need to know for how long. etc.
Thanks to everyone that has expressed their appreciation for my work on
the list. We try to keep everything going smoothly but sometimes there
are kinks that are not easily diagnosed. I have limited access to the
guts of the list so sometimes it takes a bit longer to resolve
problems. Again the more specific information I get regarding any
problems the more likely I can resolve it quickly.
