Mud-daubers,
When I took the laminated class (Excellent!) the discussion of course was following Martin Iorn's lead, but with some ensuing discussion and practice in joining pre-made cast panels, as not all construction objects are going to need the seamless techniques of a boat. Joining panels could allow one or two people to complete a larger project that would otherwise take a large crew. I suspect that eventually hundreds, or at least dozens of different joints for joining laminated panels will exist; butt joints with clips, bent over joints, bolted joints with special washers, scarfed, and finger joints to mention a few. For picturing some of the possibilities, I suggest googling the stitch and glue methods of boat construction. The methods are very different of couse from fc, but the idea of continuing the shear by joining up thin panels is much the same.
Side note: while the ferro discussion is smaller than it used to be; the amount of off topic chatter is less, and the general quality of what is posted is highly interesting - thanks to all that participate, and of course Marsha for holding it together! - chris
